Tribute

William (Bill) Robert Gyatt passed peacefully from this life into the arms of his loving savior on June 6, 2019. He was surrounded and supported by his loving family and caregivers during the final days of his life. William was born in Lockport, NY on February 6, 1923. He briefly attended Syracuse University before volunteering for service, during WWII, with the US Army Air Force. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and felt a calling to become a missionary. Subsequently he enrolled at Columbia Bible College where he received a bachelor of Biblical Education degree in May of 1952. He then joined the Latin American Mission, who sent him to language school in Costa Rica where he met the former Eleanor Langdon. They were married on June 7, 1958 in White Plains, NY and very shortly left for the mission field to Colombia, South America, working and residing in Sincelejo, Colombia and Monteria, Colombia. After twenty years of faithful service and five children later, they returned to Miami, Florida where Bill worked at the mission headquarters for a number of years before retiring.
William is survived by his children: Douglass, Patricia, Steven and Peter; daughters-in-law: Page and Karen and three grandchildren: Doug Jr, Ashleigh and Daysen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor and son, David.
