Van Martin

Van R. Martin 75, of Miami, Florida, passed away peacefully on Nov 29, 2022. Van had been ailing for some time from the effects of Parkinson’s disease.

Van was the eldest of three boys of Ferdie and Eileen Martin. Van leaves behind his mother, Eileen Martin, two brothers, Wayne (and Maggie) and Mark (and Michelle) and 4 loving children, Stephen (and Tammy), Kevin, Van Richard (and Ruth) and Kelli (and Marc), and stepdaughter Megan. He was the proud grandfather of 9.

Van was born in 1947 in Kingston, Jamaica.  He attended Surbiton Prep., Alpha Acadamy and St. George's College. He studied languages in Lausanne, Switzerland for a year and then went to the USA and graduated from the prestigious Babson College in Wellesley, Masssachusetts. He worked closely with his father, renowned travel and tourism pioneer, Ferdie Martin, at Martins Jamaica. In the early 70's, he emigrated to Canada where he continued working closely with the Jamaica Tourist Board, marketing many renowned Villas and Inns. 

After leaving the tourism industry, he moved his family to Miami and got involved in the South Florida Real Estate market.
