Sophie Neway passed away peacefully in her home in Coral Gables, where she had lived for almost 67 years, on April 14, 2017.
Sophie was born on November 3, 1917, in College Point, New York, to Sofia and Michael of Glogowatz, Hungary, and she grew up in College Point with her older brothers, George, Paul, Frank, and Matthew.
She moved to Miami in 1946 with her husband, Al Neway, and they built their house in Coral Gables in June 1950.
She is survived by her daughter, Roberta, and extended family and friends.
Sophie loved entertaining, traveling, and all the good things in life. She will be missed.
Her memorial will be at Stanfill Funeral Home, 10545 South Dixie Highway, Miami, FL 33156, from 4:30 to 6:00 on Thursday, April 20.
