Ruben Rodriguez Barbosa

Ruben Rodriguez-Barbosa, 86 years of age, resident of Cutler Bay, passed away on October 31, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife, Maria (also known as Edu) of 61 years. He was born in Adjuntas, PR, enlisting in the US Army in 1952 and retiring in 1985 in Ft. Buchanan, PR as a Sergeant Major. He enjoyed playing dominos, musical entertainment, baking, his desserts (sweet tooth) and spending quality time with his family and friends. He was the second eldest son of 5 children to his mother, Estervina Barbosa.

He had known his wife since childhood back in their hometown of Adjuntas, PR. It was always important to him to go back home to Puerto Rico to spend time with his extended family and Army buddies.

He was a proud soldier until the end through and through. His most precious piece of clothing from his wardrobe was his uniform which he proudly wore on the Commissioning day of his grandson, 1LT JOse (Joey) Soto. All three of his sons enlisted and one of his daughters received a commission into the US Army.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Sylvia, Angel, Felix, Vivian and Wanda. The sudden death of his youngest son, Cesar Ruben was his biggest heartbreak in 2012. He Also had 12 grandchildren, 2 great granddaughters, 2 great grandsons and 1 great-great grandson.

In lieu of flowers, his family would like donations made to the Parkinson's Foundation, Miami branch.

His family will be returning with him to Adjuntas, Puerto Rico and laying him to rest back home at the Puerto Rico National Cemetery, Bayamon, PR on Veteran's Day.
