Robert Anton Sendler (Bob), born on April 8, 1926 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, died peacefully on October 28, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents Anton and Isabel, sister Joan and brother Norman. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nikki, sons Gregory and Robert, their wives Dolores and Karen, respectively, beloved grandchildren Christian and Ashlyn, nieces and nephews. His love for this country led him to enlist in the Army Air Corps at age 17. After his Honorable Discharge he studied engineering at University of Miami. In Miami he met his future wife Geraldine (Nikki) Durrough and began a lifelong career at Florida Power and Light, starting as a draftsman, rising to electrical engineer, then ascending to Divisions Coordinator of Management Services. Robert cultivated a strong sense of civic responsibility as a Toastmaster, a Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, and an unfailing volunteer serving the homeless, his parish and his sons’ Catholic schools. In partnership with wife Nikki he taught by example the Catholic faith to his sons, who today lead their families in this same faith. He is remembered for his love of the seashore, his prodigious building skills, his unwavering support and involvement in his sons’ activities, and his strength. He is summoned home now by his Heavenly Father, and if there are golf courses in heaven, he is sinking holes-in-ones there! Visitation and wake service at Stanfill Funeral Home (10545 S. Dixie Highway) on Thursday November 2 from 6-9 pm, and Mass of Resurrection at St. John Neumann Catholic Church (12125 SW 107 Avenue) on November 3 at noon.
