Phyllis Battle
October 12, 1933 ~ September 21, 2021 (age 87) 87 Years Old
Phyllis Ann Pickard Battle, 87, was a lifelong resident of Miami, born on October 12, 1933, to George Sidney Pickard of Burns Vista, Ga. & to Mary Ann Ward of Lexington, Ky. Phyllis passed away on Tuesday, September 21st, 2021. Phyllis attended Edison High School and Wesleyan College. She was introduced to her husband, Ben Battle Jr, on the 18th Green at LaGorce Country Club, by her father G.S. Pickard. Phyllis & Ben were married for 55 years until his death in 2010. Phyllis volunteered in her community through various organizations including the Junior League, Fairchild Tropical Gardens, Trinity School and was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church for 58 years. She & Ben enjoyed a robust social life and were former members of LaGorce Country Club, The Bath Club, Riviera Country Club, Benedicts, Camarilla, and the Biscayne Bay Yacht Club. Phyllis was an elegant lady, and a devoted mother & wife, with impeccable manners, ultimate integrity & character. She was passionately devoted to family, often hosting family gatherings, always happiest when her whole brood was together. She was also known for her quick wit & dry sense of humor. She is survived by her brothers: George Sidney and William Eddie, 4 sons: Michael (Leslie), Timothy (Jane), Robert (Bea), & Patrick (Michele). She adored her 9 grandchildren who called her “Muv”: Bailey & Taylor (Jeff Murray), Kate & Kirby, Bryan & Morgan, Emily, Patrick Jr. (2018) & William. And 4 great grandchildren: Christian, Luke, Hannah & Matthew Murray. The family will have a private service to celebrate her life.
