Pablo "Paul" Lopez Ramos, lovingly referred to as "Welo" to those who loved
and knew him best, earned his Angel Wings on Febuary 10, 2023, surrounded
by his wife, children and grandchildren.
He was born to Pablo Lopez, Sr. and Luz Ramos Lopez on June 18, 1943 in
Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. He met and married his beloved wife of 61 years,
Socorro "Cookie" Rivera Lopez in 1961. They started their family in
Bridgeport, CT and migrated to South Florida in 1970.
Paul join Southern Bell the same year and enrolled each of his children to
play softball/baseball at Perrine Khoury League. He enjoyed coaching,
managing and umpiring at the facility with each of his five children and,
in his later years, with many of his grandchildren.
Dad retired from Bell South in 2002 and relocated to North Port, FL, where
he joined a golf league and spent his retirement years basking in the sun,
chasing the little ball.
Mom and dad moved back to South Florida in December 2018, where he
continue his enjoyment of golf, and following his Miami Marlins. He watched
every Marlins game, cheering them on and was able to attend several
home games with his family. The last time the Marlins were in the World
Series, he was able to attend a game and they won the championship. He
said it was a life long dream and he could cross it off his bucket list.
He will be missed by his entire family, friends and everyone who had the
pleasure of knowing him. We love you, Daddy! It's not goodbye, but see
you later!!
