Tribute

KESSELL, Nancy J. (Flynn), age 89 years old, a long time resident of Cutler Bay (previously Cutler Ridge), passed away on October 18th, 2023. She was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada. One of seven children, she often spoke of her twin brother Peter who died as an infant. Her passions while growing up were figure skating and refereeing basketball games.

She met and married the love of her life and became a military wife. She moved her home and 5 small children from different bases in France, Germany, Great Britain, and Texas. She and Fred finally settled in Florida after retiring from military life in the early 1970's. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend.

If she was not at home with her children, she could be found at church,  the Khoury League ballpark watching her children’s games or going to their various choral concerts. She never missed a game or event. She also was a Girl Scout leader and was busy planning meetings or camp outs for many girls in the area, for whom she was an inspiration. She was a sports fanatic and knew every stat for her favorite teams. She was the go-to advice giver for picking brackets for championship series.

Nancy was predeceased by her husband Fred T. Kessell Jr., to whom she was married for almost 50 years. She is survived by her children: Cheryl Kessell (John Ball), Donna Kuhn (Charles), Peter Kessell (Martha), Karen Clay (Tony), and Diane Kessell, and her grandchildren Kelley, Ryan, Kevin and Kayla, along with her brother David, sisters Anne & Judy, and many nieces and nephews.
