Maria K. Thiel

Maria Thiel, longtime resident of Coral Gables and Hollywood Beach, passed away on July 28, 2022. Born in Athens, Greece, her parents were Constantine and Anna Deleyeanne. Maria was active in school sports and was a member of the Royal Rowing Club. Her grandfather brought her to London for the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth. Maria moved to the US, then returned to Athens as an English teacher, where she met her husband, Douglas, to whom she was married for 53 years. She is survived by her husband, Douglas Thiel and her son, Dean Evola. She was a beautiful person, beloved by many.
A Memorial Service will take place at St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church, 9:30AM Friday, August 5, 2022 with a burial at 11AM at Woodlawn Park South.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
