Maria Victoria Lesta

Maria Victoria Lesta passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 105 on August 2, 2018. Victoria was loved by all who knew her as an active, sassy woman who dedicated her life to her family and the care of children.
She was preceded in death by her husband Armando Lesta and is survived by her daughter Martha Lesta Otegui, and was a was a doting “second mother” to her three grandchildren and their spouses, Martha Otegui Modlin & Andrew Modlin of North Carolina, Monique Otegui Lang and Robert Lang of Palmetto Bay, Michael Otegui and Cindy Otegui of Colorado; and her nephew Humberto Castro of Miami.  Her five grandchildren Matt, Sarah Victoria, Alex, Maya and Michael miss her as well.
Victoria was born in Cuba in 1913 to Camilo Y Felipa Pereira. Part of the first wave of Cuban exhiles to Miami in the early '60s, she dedicated herself to helping her daughter and late son-in-law Miguel Otegui manage the family household.  She was a “stay-at-home-grandmother” helping to raise her three grandchildren. She was happiest when surrounded by children - her grandchildren, and later, her great grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Stanfill Funeral Home on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at 11am. The family will greet guest beginning at 10am.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, Susan G. Komen, or a children’s charity of choice.
