Margaret Sirilo

Born April 5th, 1928, she took her journey to her forever home on December 23, 2020 at the age of 92. Her husband Julius preceded her 22 years earlier. She is survived by three children, Margaret (Mark) Steele, Marie Sirilo and Thomas Sirilo and by her grandson Christopher Shea (Danny) and two great great-grandchildren Finnigan and Pippa. She was the youngest of five siblings and is survived by her sister Mary McDonald of Phoenix, AZ. Margaret was a devoted wife and humble worker for her family. Before marriage, she was a Secretary to one of the executives for Sears Roebuck in Akron, Ohio. She was top of her class and was able to type 90 words a minute on a manual typewriter. After the family moved to Miami in 1963, Margaret, or Marge as most called her, had a long-time career in the school system of Dade County. She started part time and worked into full time as the children got older. Marge was the Secretary to the Principals in Southwest High School and Sunset High School. After retirement, she and her husband traveled a short time in Europe and the States. After her husband's illness and passing, she again went to work for several years and then volunteered at Palmetto Elementary where she eventually had to stop due to health issues. She was on Catholic Hospice for a short time. There is will be no wake service at her request and burial will be in Akron, Ohio next to her husband. In lieu of flowers or donations, please have a Mass said for her at her longtime parish, Our Lady of the Holy Rosary-St. Richard Catholic Church. The office phone number is 305-233-8711.
