Margaret K. Grau

September 6, 1930 ~ December 24, 2017 (age 87) 87 Years Old
Margaret Grau, 87, of Cutler Bay, passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve. Marge was born in Philadelphia, PA, one of 4 children of Margaret and Robert Keehfuss. She is survived by her brother Robert Keehfuss and sister Sherry Barnhart (Jimmy). Marge is also survived by her son Kurt Grau (Terri); daughters Kathi Gaffney (Dennis) and Cindy Doerschuck (John); 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Marge and her family came to Miami in 1958. Her passion, after her family, was singing. She belonged to Sweet Adelines, sang with the award winning Goldcoast Chorus for over 30 years, where she served on the Board for most of those years. She used her “bass” attributes to sing in a quartet as they soared to the top to win the 1967 International Quartet Championship, which earned them the title “Queens of Harmony”. She served many years as President of the Coronet Club. Ten years ago she gave it all up to care for her ailing husband Jim, her soulmate and the love of her life. They were married 59 years and were an inspiration to all who knew them. She will be sorely missed by those who were fortunate enough to be a part of her life. The Memorial Celebration will be held at 2 pm Sunday, January 7, 2018, at Stanfill Funeral Home, 10545 S Dixie Hwy Miami, FL 33156. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Sweet Adelines International.
