Lois Ann Scholer (September 19, 1933 - September 19, 2023)
Lois Ann Scholer, born on September 19, 1933, in Babylon, New York, peacefully passed away on her 90th birthday, September 19, 2023, at her summer home in Lake George, Colorado. Her passing came after a magical day celebrating her milestone birthday with cherished friends she considered her Colorado family.
On October 16, 1955, Lois married her high-school sweetheart, Ronald Scholer, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, services administered by Father Edward Melton in Lindenhurst, Long Island. Their unwavering love endured for 65 years.
Lois was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ronald Scholer, her brother Bernard "Bo" Bolender, and her granddaughter Summer Wilkins.
In 1960, Lois and Ron relocated to Miami, Florida, where they raised their five children who became members of Holy Rosary Catholic School. Lois dedicated herself to the Catholic Church and school communities, forming lifelong friendships. In 1974, Lois and Ron formed RonLo Inc. a civil engineering construction company in Miami. Lois was the heartbeat of the office performing all clerical and administrative functions.
Additionally, Lois and Ron were founding members of the Perrine Khoury League and the Palmetto Optimist Football program. Lois was the official scorekeeper for the Perrine Khoury League baseball teams their children played on and often was the official scorekeeper for the League itself. Lois was a softball coach and was also known for her involvement in fundraising activities for the League from selling Sno Cones at Optimist football games to hosting their White Elephant Sales. All the while, she managed her own children's busy schedules and that of many other local children involved in various extracurricular activities.
Lois was a Class A Women’s Team Tennis Player. Lois, with her exhaustive schedule, without exception, always had family dinner on the table promptly at 6:00 pm. And it was “that hot.”
An ardent fan of the University of Miami and several professional sports teams, including the Dolphins, Panthers, Marlins, and Heat, Lois's enthusiasm for sports knew no bounds.
In 1983, she established her plant nursery, "Plant Greenery – God's Garden," where she nurtured not only plants but also the souls of those who crossed her path.
In retirement, Lois and Ron put down new roots on Merritt Island, Florida, and in their beloved summer home in Lake George, Colorado. Lois remained actively engaged in organized bowling, swimming, and of course, her Catholic Church families in various communities.
Lois leaves behind a legacy of love, care, generosity, and warmth, and will be forever remembered by her two sisters: Mary Armbruster and Aimee Bolender; her five children: Peter, Valerie, Paul, Adam, and Ellen, along with their spouses, and significant others; eleven grandchildren: Garrett and Cody (Peter), Jonathan, Charlotta, Patrick, Aimee (Val), Kelsey and Lindsey (Adam), Luke, Lauren and Alec (Ellen); and three great-grandchildren: Caleb and Evolett (Lauren), and Henry (Cody).
Lois Scholer was an exemplary sister, wife, mother, grandparent, great-grandparent, friend, business owner, boss, mentor, coach, Catholic parishioner, and garage/estate sale customer. Her memory will also be cherished by countless family members, friends, business associates, and all who were fortunate to experience her kind and generous spirit, as well as her warm smile, a thoughtful and true friend to all. Throughout her lifetime, she selflessly served the communities she called home.
In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring her memory with a random act of kindness or a donation to your favorite charity in Lois's name. May she rest in eternal peace, leaving behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire us all.
A Celebration of Life reception will be from 1pm to 6pm following the burial. Check with the family for more details.
