Kenneth Gerson Rutter

Kenneth G. Rutter, age 75 of Palmetto Bay, Florida passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2018. Ken was born in Nashville, Tennessee and grew up in Baton Rouge. He moved to Miami in 1972, working for Pan American Life. Ken worked for Life General Insurance Company, AvMed for many years than began selling cell phones with various companies. Ken retired several years ago and enjoyed spending time with our Rescue Golden Retriever Lacey, enjoying his family and most of all spending time with his three grandchildren.
Ken so loved the game of golf and giving back to the community by volunteering at the Doral Open, Doral-Ryder Open, Genunity Classic, Ford Championship and WGC Cadillac Championship for 36 years. Ken was the Chairman of the Course Division for several years. Later on, he had a wonderful and memorable opportunity, under the direction of PGA TOUR Security, to run the “DELTA TEAM”, which secured the safety of the PGA TOUR marquee players. Ken’s assignment was Tiger Woods, of which Tiger referred to Ken as his “Miami Homey”. Ken looked so forward to each year working with his Delta Team; Mark, Ralph, Rick, Jim, Scott, Bob.
Ken also had his own foursome he played every Sunday as his original foursome which began in the middle ‘80’s with Floyd, Fred, and Keto. His most recent foursome was with Keto, Ruben, sometimes Pete, Rick or Ralph. He loved spending time with all of them which was an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful weather and a day of golf with his buddies.
Ken attended Louisiana State University and played football for his school. Ken adored his LSU Tigers and cheered them on every year. Even when they were winning he would pace the floor until the last moment of the game was over, yes he bled purple and gold. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!
Ken is survived by wife of 36 years, Kathi Rutter, his son Robby Rutter, daughter-in-love Lori Rutter, and grandchildren Tyler Rutter, Madison Rutter and Hunter Rutter of which he loved with all of his heart and so looked forward to spending time with them.
God Bless you Ken…we will miss you tremendously…Rest in Peace until we see you again.
