Kathryn Barnes Linfors, 77, a resident of Palmetto Bay since 1973, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2020.
Born in Uncasville, CT, raised at her beloved Pine Knoll and a graduate of New Londone High School, where she was known as “Pixie,” Kathryn was the daughter of Sylvia Margaret Barnes, deceased 2008, and Robert Hatfield Barnes, deceased 1971.
A dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Kathryn has entered the loving embrace of her husband and love of her life, Cmdr. Nils Linfors Jr., who preceded her in death on June 2, 2019.
Their love story began in 1958 while Nils was attending the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT. Married in 1962, their union endured 57-years.
Kathryn was the proud mother of Nils Eric, Robert Barnes and Patrick Hatfield and she deeply loved her daughters-in-law, Stacy, Sophia and Patty.
Kathryn adored her 8-grandchildren: Amanda Marie, Mark Hatfield and his wife Jordon, Ronald Clyde, Hailey Sophia, Audrey Molly, Deanna Irene, Christopher Nils and Jason Robert.
She was absolutely tickled to be a great-grandmother to Andi Joy, Grant Hatfield and most recently Lea Leslie.
A wake will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2020, 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., at Stanfill Funeral Home, 10545 S Dixie Hwy, Miami, FL 33156. COVID restrictions are in place. Groups of no more than 25-are allowed inside at a time. Social distancing and masks are required.
Kathryn will be buried alongside her husband at Arlington National Cemetery.
