John Arthur Leibel

John Leibel “Willie” passed away on March 15th at the age of 72 in Dunedin Fl. Son of Arthur Leibel and Teresa Requate. John was born in the Bronx, NY on January 25, 1950. His family moved to Miami in 1961.
John was preceded in death by both of his fathers, Arthur Leibel and Arthur Requate, his mother Teresa Requate, his brother Art Requate, Jr and brother Michael Leibel.
John served our country in the US Navy and it was his proudest moments. When he completed his service, he worked at various jobs including USPS and UPS making lifelong friends along the way. John’s family, Sheila, Gary and Richie were his everything, Well maybe not his everything. His beloved Yankees, NY Giants and UF Gators ran a really close second to his loved ones. John rarely missed the Yankees spring trainer and NEVER missed a Gator or NY Giant game on TV. Oh and one other thing, there could be curling on TV and John would watch it. He just loved all sports. John graduated from Southwest High in 1968 and loved going to his class reunions in the Florida Keys. John will be missed for his infectious laughter and finding humor in just about everything. That laugh!!!
John leaves behind his partner and love of 25 years Sheila Whipkey, Cathy Requate, Susan (Charlie) Serrats, Rob (Carmen) Requate, Terry (Pat) Madden, Rose (Bubba) Russell, Jean (Kenny) Bell along with 6 nieces and nephews and a great niece and great nephew.
John will have a private graveside service with a Celebration of His Life to be held in the coming months.
