Hope L. Hughes

If roses grow in Heaven Lord, please pick a bunch for me.  
Place them in my Mother’s arms and tell her they’re from me.  
Tell her that I love and miss her and when she turns to smile, 
place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for a while.
Because remembering her is easy, I do it everyday.  
But there is an ache within my heart that will never go away.

Hope Lawson Hughes passed away peacefully surrounded by the ones who loved her dearly on Friday, December 27th, 2019 at the age of 84.  She is predeceased by her loving husband, Burnie Glover Hughes (March 12th, 2008).  Born on July, 3rd, 1935, in Scarsdale, New York to Arvid Lawson and Martha Krauss.  Hope graduated from Scarsdale High School in 1954 and then went on to model for the Ford Modeling Agency in New York City.  She then flew as a stewardess with Eastern Airlines until meeting Burnie.  Hope met Burnie on an airline flight, fell in love, and then married on April 4, 1964.  They resided in Miami, Florida where they put down their roots and raised three children.  Hope was a wife, mother, and homemaker until her children were grown and then opened a modeling agency of her own.  After the passing of her husband, Hope was cared for by Mrs. Sonia Boswell and thus began a long-lasting friendship between the two.  She was a sweet and gentle presence and had a smile that will never be forgotten.  Her memory will forever be in our hearts.  Hope is survived by her three children, Heather, Brian, and Burnie.  Her son-in-law Christopher and grandchildren Gavin, Ashley, and Ezra.  

A memorial service will take place at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 14260 Old Cutler Road, Palmetto Bay, Florida 33158 on Sunday, January 12th at 3:00pm with reception to follow.
