Harry Boyd Goebel, Passed away on March 7, 2018 in South Miami Florida. With his loving wife (Kit) Kathleen, of 58 Years by his side. Harry was born in Pittsburgh, PA and moved To “Miamah” in 1940. He attended St. Peter and Paul and went to the state basketball championship in Middle school. In those days growing up in Miami was the dream “like no other place in the USA”. Harry spent many wonderful hours boating, fishing, water skiing and exploring Biscayne Bay and the connected keys He was proud to say that he attended the undisputed best class to graduate from Miami High in 1950. He maintained many childhood friendships until he passed. In Harry’s mind Miami remained a small town. After high school Harry joined the US Airforce and was Honorably Discharged. Harry loved Miami and as an electrical estimator was active in the city’s development. As Miami grew so did Harry’s opportunities and family. He was a member of the IBEW, worked as an electrician for Young Electric and then as an electrician and electrical estimator at Anchor Electric. Faith, Family, Community, & Environment always played a significant role in his life. Along with friends, Harry also collected cars. His undeniable lifelong passion was his love for antique cars. Harry drove his favorite car a 1936 Ford Coupe convertible to Hershey Pennsylvania and won a “Grand National Award. He was one of the founders and past presidents of the Miami Antique Car Club. Harry was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Preceded in death by parents, Nicholas and Thelma Rose Goebel. Survived by his wife, Kathleen (Kit), and his children, Leslie, Ali, Dan, Mary Ellen, and Gigi, 13 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. There will be a viewing Friday, March 9th at Stanfill Funeral Homes 6:30 – 8:30pm. Funeral services are scheduled for 12:30 on Saturday, March 10th Epiphany Church at 8235 SW 57 Ave, Miami, FL 33143. In lieu of flowers, family request donations be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
