Gerald Arthur Davis, of Palmetto Bay, Florida, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on December 15, 2018 from a brief battle with cancer. He was 81 years old.
Gerald “Jerry” was born in Daytona Beach, Florida to Vera Maude Holton and Samuel Arthur Davis on January 13, 1937. He was an avid athlete who excelled in swimming/diving and baseball. He graduated from H.M. King High School in Kingsville, Texas and then enlisted in the United States Army where he served for two years. After completing his time in the service, Jerry moved to New York and married the love of his life, Diana, beginning their journey together. After retiring in 2000, he moved to Miami, Florida.
Jerry always enjoyed Sunday pasta dinner with family members. He had a love for bowling and achieved the ‘perfect score’ of 300 twice in his lifetime. He also loved fishing and hunting with his nephew Joe and great nephew Joey, as well as his buddy Pete and the guys at the Locust Point Yacht Club in the Bronx.
He is survived by his beloved wife Diana to whom he was married 57 years, his daughter, Jill Davis and her fiancé Keith Ortolani, his son Glenn Davis and his wife Lorraine and his two grandchildren Kristin and Cody who he adored and was so very proud of. Jerry will also be fondly remembered by his dear sister Jo Anne Williams, sister-in-law Dorothy Gadinsky, predeceased brother-in-law Jerome Vitucci, and nine nieces and nephews who were all very special to him: Elizabeth Conti, Teri Bishop, Nicolas Vitucci, Marty Williams, Brenda Bringhurst, April Bohatch, Twila Silverman, Valerie Marcin, and Carlton Gadinsky.
