McQUALE, Elizabeth L. "Betty," 91, died peacefully on August 7, 2017. She was predeceased by her husband, John McQuale and her former husband, Dr. H.D. Beardmore. She is survived by her son, Douglas C. Beardmore (Kathy); daughter, Marian L. Hasty (Tim); grandsons, Tim and Daniel Hasty; cousin, Dr. M.L. Gaub; sister-in-law, June Jennison; and niece, Dr. Elizabeth Jennison. Upon her high school graduation, Betty answered her call to serve our Nation during WWII by joining the Cadet Nurse Corps. Upon completion of her service in Philadelphia at the Episcopal Hospital, she attained her B.S. in Education from the University of Pennsylvania. With resilience and perseverance, many years later, she attained her M.S. and Ed. D. degrees in Nursing. In addition to her professional career as a Nurse Educator with the V.A. Hospital in Miami, for decades, she selflessly volunteered at various local causes (American Lung Association, Fairchild Tropical Garden and the University of Pennsylvania Alumni Association). Betty was a kind and elegant lady who always had a positive attitude. She was also the first to offer enthusiastic support and encouragement to others when they needed it most. She had a long and wonderful life surrounded by loving friends and family. Special thanks to her caregiver, Elizabeth Perez for her dedicated and loving support. There will be a 2:00 PM service at Stanfill Funeral Home on Friday, August 11.
