Eleanor Mae Stritter (Murtagh) Born May 1, 1926 to William E. and Eleanor (Renck) Murtagh, at New York, New York. Passed away on August 13, 2023. Lived in Astoria, Long Island until 1929, when her family moved to Laurelton, Long Island. Attended Public School 156 in Laurelton, The Mary Louis Academy, Jamaica, New York, and Queens College, Flushing, New York. Employed by Pan American World Airways in Passport and Transfer Department, and later Interviewing and Employment- Supervisor of Employment Department. Married Pan American Captain John Murray Stritter in June 1955, moved to Miami Florida where she became a volunteer (“Grey Lady”) at Mercy Hospital. Joined the Clipper Club (Pan American Pilots’ Wives) and served on the Board of the League of Women Voters. Moved to Greenwich, Connecticut in 1959. Was elected to the first Parish Council at St. Mary Church. Member of the Parish Women’s Club and Catholic Daughters of America. After Murray’s retirement, returned to Miami, where Murray worked on his Mango Grove and became Chairman of the Florida Mango Forum. Eleanor assisted with bookkeeping. They became the Co-chair couple of the Yes Group, “Youthful Epiphany Seminars”, and Eleanor served on the Neighborhood Crime Watch in Pinecrest. Murray and Eleanor became a Volunteer Family with a program at St. Agatha’s Home for Children, in Nanuet, New York. Continued activities with Pan Am Clipper and membership in Ken- Pines Garden Club. Eleanor was survived by her son Raul Rodriguez, Sr., and her grandchildren Alesa Rodriguez, Raul Rodriguez, Jr., and Eleanor Rodriguez. Services to be held as follows: Viewing- Monday, 8/21/2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM- Stanfill Funeral Home- 10545 S. Dixie Highway, Miami, Florida 33156 Tuesday, 8/22/23 at 11:00 a.m. (Mass at Church of the Epiphany- 8235 SW 57th Ave, Miami, FL 33143)
