Doris Katherine Carroll

Doris Katherine Carroll, 98, longtime resident of South Florida, passed away on June 9, 2022 of natural causes.

Doris was born on November 6, 1923 to George and Katherine Abbott in Hagerstown, Maryland. She spent most of her childhood and early years in Chicago and Detroit. Her fondest memories were at the Detroit Yacht and Country Club where she enjoyed dancing, swimming, and sailing.

After attending the University of Detroit, Doris moved to Southern California with her then husband, James Cole. They divorced shortly after and it was there that she met the love of her life, Robert Carroll. They moved to Miami, Florida where she and Bob raised their family of 5 children. Though they separated years later and remarried, they never lost their love for each other.

Keeping physically active was always important to Doris. She would regularly do yoga, pilates, swim, and take long walks with her beloved pup, Muffie.

Doris will fondly be remembered for her quick wit, her clever retorts, her unbridled laughter, and her classic sense of style and beauty.

Doris was preceded in death by her two sons Robert E. Carroll, Jr. and Patrick Francis Carroll. She is survived by her children Stephen Reid Cole, Linda Ann Carroll, and Joanne Katherine Carroll; daughters-in-law Ellen Cole, Donna Carroll, Dot Carroll, Melissa Maggard; grandchildren and great-grandchildren Matthew Cole (Madison and Maggie), Lauren McGuirk, Heather Carroll (Breahna and Brendan) Brendan Carroll, Jessica Carroll, Jordan Carroll.

 Services will be held at Holy Rosary St. Richard Catholic Church on Thursday June 16, 2022 beginning with a viewing at 10:30 A.M. followed by a Mass at 11:00 A.M. There will be a reception immediately following service at the St. Richard Parish Center.
