Darrell Gary Gard

Darrel Gary Gard (Gary) died at 68 on September 3, 2019 in Miami Springs. Florida. Born in Coral Gables October 10, 1950, to Darrell Gard and Mary-Louise Martin-Vegue Gard, Gary pursued life to the fullest. He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity at Mercer University. After attending Mercer, Gary worked with his father at Gard Distributing. Taking the helm of the family business in 1980, Gary expanded it by overseeing the construction of the current warehouse in Miami and at one point in time having branches in Tampa and being the sole on-site vendor at Piper Aircraft in Vero Beach.  However,as an avid hunter and fisherman, he infrequently was at his home in Miami Springs on weekends. The first thing that comes to mind to those that loved him is his amazing sense of humor. While displayed on a daily basis, this trait made astonishing appearances when Gary faced life’s toughest challenges. Gary is loved and sorely missed by his wife Linda Gard, daughter Amanda Farall Gard from his first marriage to Suzy Gard, sisters Diane Wood and Carolyn Holland, and his nieces and nephews.  He’s preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jeffrey Gard.  In lieu of flowers the family requests you make a donation in memory to the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation at www.marinesanctuary.org
