Christopher Thomas Morrison

March 24, 1949 ~ May 19, 2017 (age 68) 68 Years Old

MORRISON, Christopher T., 68, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017 in Miami, FL from pancreatic cancer.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah; his mother Margery, his sisters Kathryn Braun (Gerd) and Kerry Myerson, his nephews Rolf Braun, Gregory Myerson, James Myerson, and his brother-in-law Clement Pearce (Carolyn). He is preceded in death by his father, Benjamin.
Chris was good-natured, charismatic, bright, loving and clever. A loyal friend, he was known for his quick wit, excellent sense of humor and warm hospitality. Born and raised in Aberdeen, Washington, Chris graduated from Stanford University with a Bachelor of Arts followed by a Masters of International Management from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird).
Chris leaves a legacy of many charitable works through his profound love of Rotary International (37 years of perfect attendance). He proudly served as Centennial President of the Coral Gables Club 2004-2005, and had recently held leadership positions at the District level. In addition, he served his community as a volunteer on several Coral Gables boards, most recently traffic/transportation.
Chris was passionate about Stanford/PAC 12 football since his college days when he was the head football manager of the team his senior year. Since graduating, he cheered the Cardinal to victory on many road trips, Rose Bowls and other championship game appearances. He was so very passionate that for Debbie’s birthday he gave her a personalized license plate “BEAT CAL” and in return she gave him “BEAT USC”.
Chris began his career in hotel management with Hyatt Hotels, Radisson Hotels, and Omni Hotels, first in San Francisco, then Houston, TX; Cherry Hill, NJ; Minneapolis, MN; Burlington, VT; Raleigh, NC, and finally Miami, where he and Debbie got “sand in their shoes”. Not wanting to be transferred out of South Florida, he transitioned into a career in real estate – property management, commercial sales (hotels) and mortgage loan originations.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Stanfill Funeral Home. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held Wednesday, May 31st at 4 pm at St. Philips Episcopal Church, Coral Gables, with a reception following at the Coral Gables Country Club.
No flowers, please. Those wishing to honor Chris may make a gift in his memory to either The Buck/Cardinal Club, Stanford Athletics’ Annual Fund, 641 E. Campus Drive, Stanford, CA 94305, or, The Rotary Foundation, Annual Fund, 14280 Collection Center Drive, Chicago, IL 60693.
