LTCOL Cecil E. Daniels, Jr. US Army, Retired, died on Aug. 3, 2018 in Miami, FL. He was the son of the late LCDR (USCG) Cecil E. Daniels, Sr. and the late Mildred Clapp Daniels. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Catherine Moore Daniels and many loving nieces and nephews. Cecil was preceded in death by his brothers, COL William F. Daniels, Sr. U.S Army Ret., LTCD Stephen A. Daniels USCG, and RADM Edwin H. Daniels Sr. USCG Ret. Cecil was born Nov. 2, 1922 in New Bern, NC. He was proud of his Army career, serving his country, particularly during the Korean War.
He was a gifted ship handler and was happiest when on the sea. Cecil loved living on the Neuse River. Music was an important part of his life and he loved to play the organ. His passion for travel was evident when in 1977 he travelled the Trans-Siberian railroad across Russia. Cecil was a kind man with a great sense of humor. He loved to “fix things” and help others. He loved family above all else and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Stanfill Funeral Home on Aug. 11 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM followed by a service at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Salvation Army or Mercy Ships or a charity of your own choice.
