Carolyn Matthews Kern

Born June 18, 1935 - October 19, 2018

Christian woman, loving Mother and Grandmother, American patriot, Friend to many, Confidant and the Rock of her family, left the world today to rise in Glory and Peace to live in Heaven with her Creator. She leaves behind three sons James W. Kern, E. Andrew “Drew” Kern and R. Matthew Kern... a daughter in law Stacey Kern as well as Julie Stocker and two ex daughter in laws Elise Kern and Connie Kern who she continued to love as her own. She also leaves her grandchildren Sarah N. Kern, James C. Kern, Andrew J. Kern, Justin D. Kern, Rebecca G. Kern, Joshua C. Kern, Lee Brough, Matthew Brough, Josh and Avery Byers and great grandson Jaxon Byers.

She was an amazing mother who demonstrated what it is to be a Christian woman (A true Proverbs 31:10-31 woman) to her family and the world around her, loving each one of her family regardless of whatever shenanigans we got ourselves into. She was an amazing quilter, and loved to sew, sharing her talents and gifts in this regard with countless others. She taught her family how to cook and appreciate food with a passion. She faced death with the same love and courage with which she lived life and she will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. “The world will be a lonely place without her.”

She loved flowers but would not want you to make a fuss over her and she would have preferred you make a donation to a Christian charity, children’s charity or animal charity of your choice (we would love it if you made it in her name, to honor her, although she would have not wanted the notoriety). Her wake will be held at Stanfill Funeral Home at 10545 South Dixie Hwy., Pinecrest FL on Thursday October 25 from 7pm-9pm and her funeral will be held at Old Cutler Presbyterian Church Friday October 26 at 4pm.
