Betty Jane (Stewart) Moss
Born in Miami, Florida February 18, 1928, died December 30, 2017 at the Palace Gardens, Homestead. Betty is survived by her children Pamela Moss, Donald Bruce Moss (Diana), Linda Blakley (Mike), and Bryan Chapman (Terri); 6 grandchildren, Terry Moss, Amanda Blakley (Erin) Gunter, Christopher Blakley (Belinda), Jake, Brett, and Brad Chapman and 3 great grandchildren, Graeme Gunter, Jazmyn and Alexis Moss, and her gentleman friend Roy Levi. Betty was predeceased by her husband Donald H. Moss Jr., sister Dorothy Baker, and parents Valda and Chester Stewart.
Betty was an active member in her community, participating in Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, United Methodist Women, Florida Federation of Garden Clubs (local and state), Parents Without Partners, Red Hat Society, American Legion and a founding member of Ocean Waves Quilt Guild. She served on the boards of these groups. She was proud of her native Miamian heritage, always saying she had deep roots here. She graduated from Miami Senior High School and was a proud Stingaree.
She enjoyed traveling, especially to Disney World with her grandchildren. She lived in the moment and frequently ate dessert first!
Betty was a strong and stubborn woman right to the end, losing her battle due to complications of Alzheimer’s Disease.
We would like to thank the staff at the Palace Gardens for the wonderful care she received there and to OpusCare Hospice for making her final days comfortable and dignified.

Memorial services will be held at Stanfill Funeral Home on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. before going to her final resting place at Arlington National Cemetery.
