Barbara Johnson

Barbara passed away peacefully on April 27, 2023, after a brief illness!  She is predeceased by her husband Lyle, her parents, John & Isabel, her daughter Susan and husband Chris Wolary and grandson, Douglas Elsberry.  She is survived by her daughter Deborah Elsberry (Dr Jeff), grandson Greg Elsberry (Christy), granddaughters Ashley Wolary (Miranda) and Brittany Digilio (Roman), great grandsons Michael and Mason; and sister Joan Reitsma. Barbara attended Miami Senior High School and Florida State University, where she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority!  She served as president of the MHS Alumni Association for 10 years!  An avid sports enthusiast, she supported all teams Seminole and Stingaree! She bled “Garnet and Gold” and was known to wear a Seminole headdress during FSU football games! 

She loved spectator sports, and on a personal level, she swam, played tennis and was a member of a Bowling League!

Barbara’s “career” was devoted to perfecting the title of “Stay-at-Home Mother.”  Her support and devotion to her children were evident in all she and her husband did!  She was a Girl Scout leader and served as President of the PTA in their school! 

Barbara was a talented needle artist! She loved quilting, machine embroidery, knitting and a wide range of skills!  She generously shared these talents with family and friends, and also donated them to charitable organizations.  Whenever a family member or friend needed help or was ill, she was always the first one there to offer her assistance.  She was a lifelong caregiver to all who needed her! She was a blessing to all who knew her!

A gathering, and memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 7 from 1 – 3 pm
at Stanfill Funeral Home.
