If roses grow in Heaven Lord, please pick a bunch for me.
Place them in my Mother’s arms and tell her they’re from me.
Tell her that I love her and miss her, and when she turns to smile, place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for a while.
Because remembering her is easy, I do it every day, but there’s an ache within my heart that will never go away.
Antonina “Nina” P. Curry, 82, of Miami, returned to her heavenly home peacefully in her sleep on January 7, 2020, surrounded by her six children. Born May 5, 1937, Milwaukee, WI, she is predeceased by her parents, Carlo and Mary Pietrangelo, her late husband of 52 years, Donald Kenneth Curry Jr and their infant son.
Nina was a devoted wife, mother and Nana. Blessed with a large and loving family, she always made time for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She dedicated time for her children’s activities as Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother, Room Mother, Team Mom, and PTA. For years, she spent time at the Khoury League as their biggest fan, cheering and supporting them.
As an active member of her church, she was the chairman of helpers on the Catholic Christian Doctrine (CCD), ushered and was involved in the Council of Catholic Women. She served on the board of Whispering Pines Women’s Club as vice president, chairman of ways and means, Education Committee, Fine Arts Festival, Federation, awards and installation in the club. Also, as a representative on Burdines and Jordan Marsh advisory boards and coordinator of the president’s reception, rummage sales, annual Christmas and International dinner parties. She was their nominee for “Outstanding Woman of the Year.” She loved sewing and won many awards in the Clubs Sewing Contests. By winning top honors her sewing articles competed at the District 11 Arts Festivals.
Nina is survived by her six children, Donald A. Curry, Toni (James) Thomas of North Augusta, SC, Patricia (Miguel) Ruiz, Thomas Curry, Michael (Jennifer) Curry of West Palm Beach, FL, and James Curry. Thirteen grandchildren, Donald Jr., Heather, Anthony, Christopher, Sean, Victoria, Danielle, Olivia, Kaitlyn, Thomas Jr., Tiffany, Michael Jr., and Matthew. Three great grandchildren, Donald III, William, James and a fourth on the way. One brother, Tom (Linda) Pietrangelo and two sisters, Delores Gara and Karen Simmons. And numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 6-9 pm Friday, January 10, 2020 at Stanfill Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Holy Rosary / St. Richard Catholic Church followed by interment in Flagler Memorial Park.
