Albert August (Al) Reker passed away peacefully on April 15, 2022 at the age of 92. He was born September 30, 1929, in Grand Pass, Missouri to his parents Frederika and Walter Reker. Al grew up on the farm and left part of himself there when he left to serve 4 years in the Air Force. He was most proud of serving as crew chief on a B-47 Stratojet.
While stationed at MacDill AFB, Al met and married the love of his life, Barbara. They shared 69 1/2 happy years together. They have two sons Steve (Christine) and Tim (Kelly). Four grandchildren blessed their lives Justin, Tyler, Kristen, Hunter, 2 great granddaughters: Jemma and Jaycee. He is also survived by his brother Merlyn Reker and niece Cheryl.
During his time serving in the Air Force, he traveled around the United States and Europe. He even appeared in the movie Strategic Air Command. He later graduated from the University of Miami and pursued a career in the business world.
He loved his church(es) University Baptist and Old Cutler Presbyterian. He also enjoyed 25+ years as a participating member of the Miami 948 Elks Lodge.
Service and celebration of life will be held on Monday, April 25, 2022 at 4:30 PM. Miami Elks Lodge located at 10301 S.W. 72 Street, Miami, FL.
