Wilson, Michael David
Michael David Wilson, 73, a native Miamian, died at home on September 2, 2017 after a long illness, surrounded by his family. He grew up in Miami Springs and lived in Coral Gables for the past 31 years.
Michael attended Hialeah High School where he played basketball, baseball and football. He was a lifelong Gator, graduating with an engineering degree from the University of Florida in 1966 and a Masters degree from Florida Institute of Technology. After a brief stint in engineering, he realized that financial planning was his passion, joining Merrill Lynch where he worked for 41 years until his passing. Since 2010, Michael was annually honored as one of Barron’s Top 1,000 Advisors. As an avid golfer, he was a member of Riviera Country Club and Cullasaja Country Club (Highlands, NC). He was also a member of Biscayne Bay Yacht Club.
Michael was a loving husband, dedicated family man and devoted grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Lisbeth Patton Wilson; his three children: Scott Wilson (Lyn), Peter Harrison (Sarah) and Amy Pisano (Andrew); and 6 loving grandchildren: Kelly, Scotty, Stuart, Eloise, Chloe, and Ace. He is survived by his siblings Dennis Wilson and Barbara Kight (Hayward). Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Jane and Robert F. Wilson.
The family would like to thank Dr Paul Kaywin and Dr Nathan Jacobson for their compassionate care during his illness.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at St. Louis Catholic Church (7270 SW 120th Street, Pinecrest, FL). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Miami Cancer Institute at Baptist Health South Florida in the name of Michael David Wilson.
