Beverly Moore

December 31, 1930 ~ November 6, 2017 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Beverly Peters Moore, age 86, beloved wife of Girard W. “Jerry” Moore, Jr., Miami-Dade resident since 1953, formerly of Summerville, SC, passed away peacefully Monday, November 6, 2017. Loving mother of three sons and sweet Granzie to nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Faithful servant to our Lord Jesus Christ as Vice-President, then President of the Women in the Church, handbell ringer, choir singer, church visitation volunteer, church prayer warrior, nursery caregiver, “Queen” of King’s Courts Tennis Club, and gracious Southern hostess.

Beverly grew up in Summerville, SC, loving the beach, horses, and sports and was also one of the town beauty queens. She loved to spend most of her summer months at her grandparent’s beach house on Folly Beach, SC. She graduated from Summerville High School in 1949. She completed two years at the College of Charleston and was crowned their beauty queen. In 1950, she met Jerry on a blind date on Folly Beach, and they married on July 21, 1951. They moved to Newport, RI, when Jerry was recalled to active duty in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War to teach Navigation at Officer Candidate School. Their firstborn, Jeff, was born there in 1953. They moved to Miami in June 1953 where John was born in 1954 and Chris was born in 1958.

Beverly delighted in her roles as wife, mother, Granzie, and great-Granzie. She loved her family well. “Her children rise up and call her blessed” for she truly showed them unconditional love. Her grandchildren remember her as a sweet, fun-loving Granzie ready to go out on the boat or do the ‘Macarena’ in the kitchen. She always opened their house to family and friends where she was the consummate Southern hostess. She loved to cook delicious meals and decorate the table for each occasion. She had a deep, abiding faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and her sweet, kind-hearted, peaceful spirit touched so many lives. In her later years, as her memory faded, she could still recall the hymns she knew throughout her life and praised the Lord till the day she peacefully passed away in her sleep and awoke in Heaven.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Jerry, of 66 years; her three loving children: Girard “Jeff” (Gail) Moore, III of Melbourne, FL, John (Kelly) Moore of Palmetto Bay, FL, and Chris (Jill) Moore of Charleston, SC. Her cherished grandchildren include Wesley and Marshall Moore of Melbourne, FL; Michael (Katie) Moore of Orlando, FL and Kinsey (Jonathan) Simmons of Cutler Bay, FL; and Heather Moore of Alexandria, VA, Laurel (David) Cheromei of Kaptagat, Kenya, Camellia Moore of Tucson, AZ, and Logan Moore of Bellevue, NE. Her four precious great-grandchildren are Caleb Moore of Orlando, FL, and Lily, Levi, and Lucy Cheromei of Kaptagat, Kenya. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Barnett of Summerville, SC, and Millie Peters of Aiken, SC.

Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Magie Peters; Jerry’s parents, Girard and Dorothy Moore; her sister Magie Waring; her brother Albert Peters; two brothers-in-law Dickie Waring and Tommy Barnett, sister-in-law Joyce Peters, and her dear grandson Gregory Moore.
