Betty June Fitch Bernabei left this world on Thursday, April 27th, 2017 at 5:05pm. She was embraced in her final moments by her daughter, Joey, and the wonderful staff of the TC Hospice. Born on March 29th, 1929, in Cromwell, Oklahoma. Her youth was spent in Oklahoma City and Talco Texas. She came to Miami, Florida to visit her recuperating brother after the war, Billie Fitch (deceased) where she met the love of her life, Andrew Bernabei (deceased). They married and had two daughters Carla Talarico, CPA (former City Manager of Miami Beach) and Joey Mettley (former owner of the Christmas Shoppe of Cauley Square.) Widowed in 1991, she retired in 1993 from Miami Dade County as a Procurement Supervisor of Bids and Contracts. She also was employed in the purchasing department of Burger King’s Davmor. A brief residency in Sarasota brought her back to Miami where she settled with her daughter, Joey in Palmetto Bay Her time was spent enjoyed golfing, sewing and family gatherings. A founding family of St Hugh Catholic Church where she taught catechism and a Eucharistic Minister at St Louis Catholic Church fulfilled her life. Wanting a simpler and quieter life in 2003, the move to Port Saint Lucie was made. Her life was filled with her dogs, Labradors, quilting, embroidering and visiting with her friends and family. She will be missed terribly and if you care to share in the celebration of her life, please visit us Friday, May 5th from 3 to 5 pm at the Martin Funeral Home in Port Saint Lucie, corner of PSL Blvd and Floresta and/or a Memorial Service in Miami, on Monday May 8th from 7 to 9 at Stanfill Funeral Home, 10545 S. Dixie Highway; Miami, FL 33156. Private entombment will follow at Miami Memorial Park next to Andrew.
