Dear Sue,
I am so sorry to hear of your father's passing. He was such a nice man! I worked in his office at NCI the summer after my freshman year in college and, while I didn't see him very much, I remember his cheer and kindness. Everyone there worked well together and he was obviously well-respected. I enjoyed that summer a great deal when I did a great deal of library research for the doctors. This gave me my first real taste of librarianship, a profession I loved until retirement.
Thinking of you all and wishing you happy memories of your loving dad.

Dr. Alfred Ketcham was a true prince among men. His folksy charm entirely belied his towering achievements in the medical and academic arenas. I still remember my first encounter with him, in the early 1960's, when I was a small child. I was not pleased to learn that a DOCTOR was coming to visit us, but he quickly won me over by inviting me to his house to have a shot (clearly in jest). He would always make us laugh. Nearly 60 years later, we still cherish our opportunities to visit with his wonderful family. Alf was about the kindest, warmest, most gracious man that I have ever met. He and Jane would make all who entered their home feel welcome and important. My life is definitely richer for the precious hours spent with him. We will deeply miss him but treasure our memories. We send our warmest condolences to the Ketcham family.

I was very sorry to hear of Dr. Ketcham's passing. I remember fondly the days my sister, Kathy, and I spent at his summer cottage on Sodus Point, singing around the player piano with his wonder family. May he rest in peace.
